"Finally, finally, I am free from my parents!" I spoke to Caroline as I packed my suitcase and duffel bag, neatly organizing it with all my clothes, my hairbrush, toothbrush, etc in my suitcase, and all my art things in my duffel bag . Luckily my plain black duffel bag was bigger then my suitcase, because I had a lot to pack, and I knew I couldn't leave anything behind.
I was going to head up to Thunder Bay for the summer, and rent out a place. I had a great uncle there, but he and I both knew that I needed some space, and I'm sure he didn't want a eighteen year old girl living with him. Especially one who wasn't even go to university because she didn't have any careers in mind, and that was a bad thing when your father was an accountant and your mother a teacher.
The reason why I decided that leaving Toronto and heading up North would be a good thing to do was because I wanted to see the world, and although Thunder Bay wasn't too far away from Toronto, it was still far enough away to put some distance between my parents and I, and I was sure I could get enough work done up there.
"Technically you aren't 'free' until you walk out the door, get in my car so I can drive you to the airport, and you touchdown in Thunder Bay..." Cara spoke, and I looked at her. Just staring, and she laughed. "I'm kidding, I'm kidding. I know what you're saying." She added, and sat down on my bed. Picking up the list I had made, and checking things off for me.
After I had everything checked off my list and packed in my bags, I looked around my room, and then to Caroline. "Do you think I'm making a good decision?" I asked, waiting for an answer.
"Of course. Stop being doubtful in yourself, and learn to make decisions for yourself. You're terrible at making decisions." I smirked, and laughed. "Well, I guess we should be getting to Pearson Airport. Don't want to be late." I spoke, and slung my duffel bag over my shoulder, and pulled the handle out of my suitcase, and headed off down the stairs. Once I put my things in Cara's car, I quickly said goodbye to my parents and we were headed off to the airport.
"Okay, I think you're all set Sam." Caroline spoke, and smiled, giving me a hug. "I'll miss you. Make sure you keep me posted! Text, call, email, whatever you have to do. If you don't get service up there, then write me a letter, or a postcard." My best friend laughed, and I smiled.
"I'll miss you too. Thanks for the ride." I replied, and smiled, and waved to my friend as I headed off to my plane, ready to take on Thunder Bay.
-
"Miss... miss we're here..." The flight attendant gently shook me, and I woke up, looking around, and finally realizing where I was. We had landed in Thunder Bay not too long ago, and people were starting to get off of the plane. "Oh, thanks." I replied softly, and smiled, and the attendant went off to help someone else.
Sitting up straight, I patted down my dark brown hair, and stood up out of the seat, zipping up my forest green hoodie halfway, and pulling down my denim shorts. Yawning, I glanced around, then looked up to where my carry on bag was, and sighing "Darn it."
I only stood around 5'2-5'3, so just put that picture together. I could definitely not reach the compartment above my head. Standing on my tippy-toes, I attempted to reach that compartment, but failed. So, I stood there, looking around for the flight attendant who had disappeared when I probably needed her the most right now.
"Hey, do you need some help?" A male spoke, and I glanced around, finding where the voice came from. Behind me stood a gorgeous blond god if you would, standing around 6'4, with an amazing body if I might add. I definitely could use some help right now, especially from someone with his... helpful features. He definitely looked familiar, but I was still in a haze from that cat nap.
Nodding, I smiled "Yah, actually, that would be great." I spoke, looking into his blue eyes, him smiling back. I moved out of his way so h e could get my bag out of the compartment. Glancing around for a moment, I noticed everyone had left the plane now, then I turned back to him. My bag in his hand. "Thanks so much. I don't know what I'd do without tall people in the world." I spoke, and he grinned.
"No problem. Let's go get our stuff." He spoke, and we headed off the plane. Him still holding my carry on bag.

"Thanks for all you're help, I really appreciate it." I spoke, and put my bags into the taxi. It probably would have taken me more then three hours to figure out where my bags were and everything. I didn't fly much, so I wasn't really used to it.
"No problem." He replied, then added "I didn't catch your name." Smiling, he watched me for an answer.
"Oh, I'm Sam." I spoke, and smiled, and I felt my Blackberry started to vibrate in my pocket. Quickly checking the caller ID, I noticed it was my parents. Of course they were making sure I had a good flight, but still, not the best idea when you're talking to a really cute guy, especially in my case. I looked to him, and smiled a bit.
"Jordan. I guess I'll see you around. Nice to meet you Sam." He spoke and grinned, and was off. That's when I realized who he was, and who I was talking to. I had just met Jordan Staal of the Pittsburgh Penguins, and I hadn't even realized it.
-----------------------
So, this is a new story obviously, and it's about Jordan Staal.
I don't really have too many ideas where I'm going with this, I just needed to write something else.
Anyways, tips? Ideas? Feedback? I'm ready to hear anything. (:
Thanks for reading!
Great start and different - like the plane scenario! Keep it up :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much. (: Thanks for checking it out.
ReplyDelete"I definitely could use some help right now, especially from someone with his... helpful features."
ReplyDeleteWhat a great line! LOL!
Have you thought of brainstorming an outline? The one thing that helped me most in writing my story was having an outline. Knowing (even vaguely) where you're going can really help your story flow, even when you decide to stray from it.
Good luck with the new story! Can't wait for more!
Thanks. (:
ReplyDeleteI haven't really thought of doing an outline, but now that you mention it that'd be a good idea.
Thanks so much!
